Pictures and Pumpkins, Monsters and Mario Brothers--October 2013

October is such a strange month for weather.  Although really that could be said for most months around here!  But October always seems to be the most dramatic for temperature changes.
These first few pictures were taken at the beginning of the month.  Clearly, it was still pretty warm outside since the kids went to church in shorts and Reagan’s dress has no sleeves!

I can’t really remember why we had the bale of hay.  Maybe Jim used it to cover up some grass seed.  I know he planted new grass after construction on the patio was completed.
Anyway, the clothing choices have changed dramatically by the end of the month when we went to the pumpkin patch.  We were all in long sleeves, but I remember still being cold and wishing I had a jacket!

These next few shots were Reagan’s idea!

We had fun taking pictures at the pumpkin patch, despite the chilly temps, but the patch itself was a little lacking this year.  We’ve been getting our Halloween pumpkins from the same place since before the kids were born, and they’ve always had a great selection, but this year it was kind of pitiful.  My guess is the incredibly wet summer.  It must have messed with the pumpkin harvest.
Oh, well, now we are ready for Halloween!

Reagan was Frankie Stein from Monster High.  She loved this costume, although the wig didn’t last long.  She pretty much just wore it for the pictures.

The boys were Mario, Luigi, and Wario.

They liked their costumes too, mostly.  Zachary wouldn’t wear his moustache at all, not even for a picture.  And Thomas didn’t like the fat belly that went under his costume.

We were so happy to continue our tradition of trick-or-treating with little witch Kennedy and Ghostbuster Carter.

At least until the pictures got photo-bombed!
We trick-or-treated just around our neighborhood.  We had planned to venture to another nearby neighborhood, but didn’t because of the impending rain, but it was still a good time filled with lots of candy!  And no one froze to death!
